Conversational English

Just one week ago, Sure Foundation began offering conversational English to the Woodside community. Conversational English is a modified version of English as a Second Language. Many language classes fail their students because they are grammar intensive. Conversational English is an English program focused on conversation.
After only two classes, the Woodside community has embraced our classes. It is clear that English remains a felt need in our community. We currently have a waiting list of 10 to get into our classes. Our prayer is that these classes will allow us to reach many more with the gospel.

Why Conversational English?

The use of Teaching / Conversing English as an Outreach Tool in a multi-cultural community has two very redeeming factors weighing its use. It is a relatively easy program to get started and keep going; and it can lead to multiple contacts with many people with whom we can share the Gospel.

Teaching / Conversing English as an Outreach Tool is a program in which little lesson planning needs to be done. The program can run with either many volunteers or with just one or two volunteers.
The advantage to this effort is that the teacher / volunteer is able to create and maintain excellent personal relationships with the people who attend, which hastens the opportunities for Gospel presentations.

After discussing the idea of using English for outreach with the congregation, the Leadership Team in consultation with the Pastoral Team has decided to implement Conversational English at SFLC. The hope is that by having conversations in English with people in our neighborhood, many more will come to know Jesus.

Beginning on January 28, 2011 Conversational English will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8pm at SFLC. Conversational English will be followed by a brief Bible study for all involved. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Pastor Dan.
